Cartoons and Comics

I can pronounce myself a TV fan and my family shares this fanaticism too.
We watch together all kind of series, cartoons and movies. We often watch them so many times that we learn the dialog from the characters and we use them in our real life or making references about it.

I think this is a positive thing in a family or group of friends because it creates an easy and funny conversation topic and personal jokes. Besides, you can join and have a special moment with your loved ones.

The cartoon we love the most at this time (it changes according time) is We Bare Bears. It’s about three bears (Ice Bear, Grizzly and Panda) who live in the human world. It’s so funny and I think that’s the purpose of cartoons, entertainment to any age.

And related to series… we watch repeated chapters of CSI, Bones and Dr. House, all series related to investigations, murders, blood, open bodies… something familiar jajaja.
My favorite serie already finished after six seasons: New girl. It was about a girl that joins to an apartment and, with her new roommates, lives crazy moments.

Even though I love watch TV there’s other world that I like too: comics.
My little brother and I have a collection of MARVEL comics and we read it every time and everywhere. It’s a hobby, a relief from studies.

I try to think how writers could have that imagination to create an entire world. Because in this kind of comics you can find new countries, new races, mythological characters, talking animals and whatever you can imagine… and more. It’s like there were no limits to the writers and creators.

About that, last Monday at the age of 95 died Stan Lee, the real and the best MARVEL superhero. Farewell genius. Excelsior!

Post-graduate studies

In this early phase of my career I could think that some area is my future field to work but what if it’s not what I expect about it?
I’ve got a lot of friends of Pharmacy that already finished their careers and they always said “this is what I will do” … and now they are working in something totally different. They did special post-title courses and they are happily surprised about what they are working in now.

For that reason I think it’s too soon to think about postgraduate courses. But anyway, I have to write here something about it.

Maybe for the same reason I only can think about post-title “diplomas”. Diplomas are flexible, short and specific courses.

I hope to work in clinic or assistance pharmacy area, so I believe that this “little courses” may help a lot because they are related to specific areas and they have flexible times to keep going with your work and personal life, like part-time courses three times a week and online works.

Actually there are diplomas relate with the areas that I’m interested in, like “Management in Assistance Pharmacy” and “Clinic Pharmacy”.

Imagining that I would take one of these courses, I’d do it in Chile because these post-title courses are made by Universidad de Chile, in this faculty. Besides I’m not the kind of person who would leave the country for too long, not even for studies.

Reading about these courses they have interesting subjects like “drug vigilance” and “drug epidemiology” in the Clinic area and “prescription and distribution” in the Assistance area.

Or maybe I will be a Master in Pharmacology or Marketing… who knows?

Nanoparticles

It is undeniable that technology had advance in crazy ways the last years with the main purpose to make our life easier, safer and better.

In medicine, for example, new surgical materials and devices allow patients have difficult surgeries in an easy and safe way. Therefore this technology has been safe a lot of lives.

As pharmaceutical chemistries, this technology directly affects us although it’s better to say that some of them, like nanoparticles, benefit us because they arrived to improve the way to deliver a drug.
Nanoparticles allow to get more specific receptors, reduce adverse effects and to get a better pharmacological effect, which means that patients will have a better treatment and they could increase their life expectancy.

This tech also allows developing new therapeutic targets, like the treatment of different kind of cancer. For example, last year, a scientific team from this faculty showed a research where they incorporated gold nanoparticles in microgels to obtain spatial and temporal control drug release, to prevent cancer recurrent and tumor metastasis.  It sounds amazing, doesn’t it?

Maybe in future, nanoparticles will be present in all drugs and we could eradicate some diseases or we could finally treat those “strange diseases”.

Probably at begging this new drugs won’t be cheap, but I believe nanoparticles are pharmacology’s future. What do you think?

Pets = Friends

When I was seven years old, a neighbor gave to me my first pet, a gray rabbit named Rabito. It was a funny and weird rabbit. It ate EVERYTHING on its way and it liked to play and sleep with my grandmother’s dog Monin.
When I backed from school it was waiting for me at the front door and then it jumped around me… I imagine it was happy to see me, just like I was.

I also had three hamsters. The first one was Pikachu, a beautiful white hamster who liked to ride my brother’s toy cars. Then I had two new hamsters: Awesome 1 and Awesome 2… they were so ugly but so funny! They loved to play at their wheel and fight to each other.

Awesome 1 and Awesome 2 at their first day at home.

All my pets died because of their age, but I still remember all their adventures with love, that’s the reason why I can’t choose one as my favorite.

Years passed after my family accepted to have another pet, because they still felt sad about my old ones. So four years ago we received a new dog and we named Chuck Norris.

Chuck came at home two months old like a little and nervous dog and six months later it was a big, strong and amazing dog! We like to walk every afternoon, play every time and of course, it eats all day long. Chuck understands everything we say and everything we feel, that’s why we love to stay side by side.

How not to love it?

Best holidays ever!

If you ask about my favorite holidays so far, my answer is simple: Summer of 2016.

We rented a big house in Punta de Tralca, which has access to a little beach between an eucalyptus wood. We stayed twelve days there, but every day had something special and fun to remember.

We walked to the beach every morning, then we return to house for lunch and back to the beach at afternoon. The house also have a gazebo, so at nights, we prepare something special to eat.
Some days we also sailed by the sea, we went to near places, we visited new roads and we discovered beautiful landscapes and sunsets at the breakwater.
And of course, as every trip to the beach demands, some nights we went to those crazy and unsafe beach games… I love them jajaja.

It were some typical beach holidays but I keep good memories of those days.
I believe that they are so special to me because it was the first time that the all family enjoy their holidays together. We were fifteen persons (parents, brothers, boyfriend, grandparents, aunts, uncles) and my dog, Chuck.
How could you get bored living in that mess?

Ice and Fire

Travel… what do you thinks when someone says travel? I bet you image beach and sunglasses. I think just the opposite: cold, rain and snow.

If I had the chance to travel any country I would chose Iceland, the land of ice and fire.
Iceland is an extreme country with just a few sunny days per year, but it has the most amazing landscape worldwide.  Although it’s a small country, you can find every kind of nature landscape in there, like woods, volcanoes, lava fields and geysers. Most of them are considered unique. I think visit some of them will be priceless…

In Iceland, people work for a sustainable development and you can learn a lot about it in some special tours. For example, I would like to know how they use the geyser's power to feed all the electric supply of their city… surprising, isn’t it?

Besides, Iceland is one of the happiest countries in the world, so there you have one more reason to visit it.

Even though I think it’s a great country, I wouldn’t live there just because I love my country so much and I can’t picture myself living somewhere else. I could study in there for a few month. I heard Reykjavik University has a Pharmacy program and even you can get a scholarship.
In case you are interested...

My blogging experience

To create this blog for this English class has been a self-learning experience.
I never use blog before; in spite of I follow a lot of bloggers related to cocking, handmade stuff and books and movies comments. It’s like use “fotolog” (that’s old, I know, but I used it when I was at high school) but in a better and more useful way.

At beginning it was hard to start to write. I didn’t have English courses since 2012 so I lose some practice about the language. Through the weeks I learnt a lot and now I’m even thinking in english, so it makes me easier to write this blog. Most of the topics were interesting (except the one named “an expert on your field” … it was weird for me!), so It was easy to write about them.

Besides, for make the comments, I used to open everybody’s blog, so I read a lot about my classmates, their feeling, hobbies and lives. Sometimes I realized that we had the same favorites TV shows and movies so it was nice.  It allowed me to meet them and now I even talk with some of them out of the classes!

At least for me, blog has been an enriching experience. In order to learn a foreign language we just need to practice. In that way, this blog was a really good platform to do it.
