My blogging experience

To create this blog for this English class has been a self-learning experience.

I never use blog before; in spite of I follow a lot of bloggers related to cocking, handmade stuff and books and movies comments. It’s like use “fotolog” (that’s old, I know, but I used it when I was at high school) but in a better and more useful way.

At beginning it was hard to start to write. I didn’t have English courses since 2012 so I lose some practice about the language. Through the weeks I learnt a lot and now I’m even thinking in english, so it makes me easier to write this blog. Most of the topics were interesting (except the one named “an expert on your field” … it was weird for me!), so It was easy to write about them.

Besides, for make the comments, I used to open everybody’s blog, so I read a lot about my classmates, their feeling, hobbies and lives. Sometimes I realized that we had the same favorites TV shows and movies so it was nice.  It allowed me to meet them and now I even talk with some of them out of the classes!

At least for me, blog has been an enriching experience. In order to learn a foreign language we just need to practice. In that way, this blog was a really good platform to do it. 

Travels

One of the greatest travels I remember was on summer 2016.
My boyfriend and I were talking for a long time about to go to Valdivia someday, we planned, but every time we try, this never works.

I was working that summer (February) but for emergency remodeling in our work place, my boss gave us two weeks free. My boyfriend works part time, so he asked for some days too.
We had saved money, so one random day we make some reservations, we bought a bus ticket and we traveled that night.

In my opinion, Valdivia is one of the greatest and most beautiful cities of our country.
It’s a city surrounded by rivers, forests and beautiful landscapes.
In this trip, I confirmed it.

We woke up early in the morning and we enjoyed the delicious homemade breakfast of the hostel, then we walked to somewhere. We decided not to make any plans, so we were surprised with everything we saw.

We went to “Jardín Botánico” and Parque Saval, we visited Kunstmann Brewery (and we met “Crespita” Rodríguez!), we traveled by the rivers, we walked by the forest and we saw Copihues, we ate a lot in different places, we walked along the coast, we fed the sea lions, we visited a submarine and we had a really good time.

If you have the opportunity to go to Valdivia, do it! You will not regret it! :)

This website is from ACCDIS: Advanced Center for Chronic Diseases.

As its name says, the mean objective of this center is to investigate the most common chronic diseases suffered by our country like diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. They try to find new therapeutic targets for novel drugs that will improve patient’s life, because all this diseases are incurables. Besides they want to participate in the construction of new public policies that allow the prevention of these diseases

In this website you can find publications related to chronic diseases, its origins, national statistics and protocols for new therapies. Besides, twice a year the open vacancy for a lot of activities and workshops related to this area, so if you are interested in this topic you can ask for more information on the website or in their office that is in our faculty.

I started to visit the site because in classes we were studying cancer and the teacher, who is also the founder of this center, suggests us. This year the course it’s all about cancer and inflammation, so I like to visit the site for information research. It has national (in Spanish) and international scientific papers so it helps me to study.
